One from Faerie
Geannie Jensen

Sleep now, for you are tired.
Your strength is spent,
And your youth is long past.
You are old; ancient, even,
a tree withered, weathered & bent.
How old are you, really?
You have seen the age of Faerie,
You have seen the age of the Sea,
You have seen the age of bitter conquest,
You have seen the passing of all & the coming of the age of man.
There were men then?
Yes,
They were, but only a few,
Elves, Dwarves, trolls, gnomes, dragons, & Wraiths,
they were many in the age of Faerie
Dark lords, wraiths, other dark things in dark corners,
Elves of Sea, Tree & Air, light and fair, features sharp & Magick great.
Dwarves in their Halls of Stone, Wrought steel & gems, beautiful weaponry,
Trolls in their mountain caves, bordering the Dwarves,
Gnomes burrowen depp in the ground.
Do you remember?
Do you remember those ages?
Well, enough for now,
I am satisfied in my nees & desires.
Sleep now, for you are tired.
Your strength is spent,
And your youth is long past.
