It Will Rain

  • Within 3 days if the horns of the moon point down.
  • If the moon is resting on its back at the start of its fourth quarter, it will be a rainy week.
  • If the moon is red when it rises, expect rain the next day.
  • If there are changes in the moon’s appearance occurring on Sunday mean heavy rains or flooding.
  • If leaves show their backs.
  • If cows lie down in the pasture.
  • If there is a ring around the moon. (Count the number of stars in the ring and it will rain in that many days).
  • If the sun sets with clouds.
  • If an ant covers the hole to the ant hill.
  • If smoke goes to the ground.
  • If birds fly low.
  • If it starts raining on the day the moon becomes full, it will rain until the moon quarters.

Welsh Cakes

[This recipe was shared with us from our kindred, Byd Littledragon of DragonOak Coven, Mid Glamorgan, Wales. It has become a favorite recpie for Sabbat cakes.]

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup water
  • currents
  • ¾ cup or 1 ½ cubes margarine or butter

Rub flour with margarine (like you’re making biscuits). Add sugar. Add currents. Break egg into milk and water and mix it together, then add enough to make a dough. (You don’t add ALL of it, just enough till you get a thick dough).

Roll out on a floured board (flour it well!) and cut out with a small glass.  Lightly grease a cast iron skillet or cooking stone.

Cook on top of stove, turning when brown/mildly burnt on bottom.  Do not grease the skillet between cakes. The butter in the dough does that.

Enjoy!
