“KILLYOUANDEATYOU!” (noted elsewhere)
Raven nic Rhóisín and Kathryn Price NicDhàna have a piece over at http://paganachd.com/articles/killyouandeatyou.html, that resonates with a lot of what we are trying to express when we talk about getting to know your local land spirits (this probably isn’t as much of a coincidence as one might think, many of the early proponents of the Celtic Reconstructionist movement in the US were among our Circle of Friends “back in the day”.
One very brief quote — “While the spirits of some areas – usually those with weather, flora and fauna which are very similar to the lands of our ancestors – are quite amenable to a Celtic approach, other locales are wary of us or even overtly hostile.” — while we afe not specifically “Celtic”, hat term has been applied to us by others, and inasmuch as many of our members have ancestry from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, “other other Celtic lands” (which ranged from the West coast of Europe to the Eastern borders into Asia), it is an appropriate reminder that not all spirits one encounters on this sorcerous path are welcoming and friendly or named “Casper.
Some are downright angry and vindictive, and will kill you and eat you, if given the chance. The Song ‘I don’t Speak Human” by rhe band Omnia comes to mind as an example.
Anyway, go over and read their article. As they also say, “Be able to take no for an answer.”
