We are located in the Snoqualmie Valley of Western Washington, and prospective students need to be able to travel there for in-person meetings several times a year.

Nemed Cuculatii is part of the lineage of Lady Gwen Thompson and the New England Covens of Traditionalist Witches (NECTW). Led by Elders Raven and Ash, we focus on magic, sorcery, spirituality, Spiritism, divination, and the lore of Traditionalist Witchcraft.

We are known for our family-centered, small-group approach and emphasize in-person learning.

  • Training is not charged, though members cover their own materials and contribute to group activities.
  • The program involves extensive reading, assigned projects, and active participation in rituals and discussions.

Apprenticeship Program

As a general rule, we do not accept long-distance students or offer training by mail or email. This has been our practice since the 1990s, grounded in the belief that the Craft is best transmitted through direct, embodied experience.

“Learning the Craft is like learning to drive—books help, but skill comes through practice and mentoring.”

We are currently completing a multi-year revision of our apprenticeship program and exploring whether select aspects might adapt to modern needs, including distance and/or online teaching. This is a careful and ongoing process of discernment.

  • Applicants should live within the Puget Sound region and be able to travel to the Snoqualmie Valley for meetings and rituals.
  • The program requires a minimum of one year of study, but completion does not guarantee initiation.

If interested, please complete the form on our Contact Us page to be added to our waitlist and receive updates when enrollment reopens.

From FRANKFURT, Germany - Relief of the Genii Cucullati (hooded deities) found in a shrine in the vicus, early 3rd century AD, Housesteads Roman Fort (Vercovicium) Date: Roman, c.225-50 AD Type: Religious relief Material: Local buff sandstone Place Made/Found: Built into a niche in a building in the settlement outside Housesteads Roman Fort in 1933 These 'genii cuculatti' (hooded spirits) are wearing the cucullus, a hood attached to the cloak. Their cloaks may be the 'birrus Britannicus', the woollen cloak that Britain was famous for exporting across the Empire. A genius is a spirit, and there could be genii of certain places, or activities. These Celtic deities were associated with fertility and prosperity.

We are often asked the significance of our name, and the robed figures shown prominently on our web pages. Our name (which is grammatically incorrect, we know) “Nemed Cuculatii” is derived from Romano-Celtic imagery known as the Genii cucullati, which is associated with protective entities often depicted as three hooded figures. Go here for more information about the Genii cuculati. (Our link is broken-we are working on restoring the missing document!)

"the village elders" "Tea Time at an English Nursing Home is the official title of this postcard. We sometimes like to think of it as ourselves.
