Pagan Voters
This page was formerly (until Election Day 2000 in the U.S.A.) a part of Moondancer’s Mutterings. As the election has since passed, but I feel the information to be still valid and of importance, I’ve moved it to it’s own post. For more on this topic, see Pagans Vote and Strange Bedfellows — Moondancer
Pagan Voters
There is a common perception of Pagans as either being completely uninterested in the political process, or that all pagans are left-wing radical anarchist liberals. I know that most people who know me consider me to be fairly far to the left on the political spectrum, however, the truth is that I’mnot as far left as most think, and a lot closer right as well. On most social issues, yes, I’m extremely liberal, taking the position that unless what someone is doing is causing actual harm to others, then it really isn’t my concern. Likewise, on fiscal issues, I’m pretty conservative – I support a balanced budget, I oppose legislation that is passed without the necessary funding (which puts me at odd with most of the GOP at present), and for many years, I considered myself to be of the Livertarian persuasion. I also happen to support term limits for all politicians and sunset provisions on all laws and regulations.
The United States was founded upon principles of change and our legislative bodies do not currently reflect that. We now have career politicians, who seemingly do more to pad their wallets than the listen to their constituents. The only way, however, that we can initiate that change is by exercising your right to vote. I ask everyone who is eligible to vote, to please register, and then VOTE! Encourage, no demand, that your friends and family do the same.
To make it even simpler for you, here are some links…
The Subject title, “Make Magic Happen, VOTE!” was inspired by the old http://www.pagansvote.org, which has been gone from the web for a long time now. Below are some links that are likely in need of updating, as I’m editing an older post, as I have time, I will make sure these links are current.
