called by some Samhain, Hallowe’en and other names as well; I often refer to it as “Amateur Night”.

The “end of the Celtic year” as the media informs us, along with much misinformation about its history, origins and such. I typically observe Samhain at or near the mid-point of the Sun’s passage through the astrological sign of Scorpio, which places it more directly at the midpoint between the Autumnal Equinox and the Winter Solstice, approximately 6 Nov, give or take a day or so.

By whatever name you call it, for whichever day you may (or may not) observe it, a Blessed Samhain to you and your ancestors.

Guardian of our Belovèd Dead and Keeper of Souls –
We pour forth our love upon those who are in thy keeping.
Blessèd be all those who have preceded us into thy realm.
Blessèd be the resting place of their bones.
May these be kept from the thief who lurks in the tomb.
