The Wheel turns to Beltane, one more time.
Beltane always holds a special place in my heart, it’s the anniversary of my formal initiation into the Craft, back in 1973, in the Georgian Tradition of Wicca.
This year, I’m traveling on Beltane Eve, flying back from a writers conference held in New Hampshire. My Rhode Island tradmates will be celebrating Beltane on the 1st, by which time I’ll be back in the Snoqualmie Valley.
Arriving in Sea-Tac at 10:30 pm on the 30th/Walpurgisnacht, I’m hoping that I will have enough spoons to attend the annual Morris Dancing at Gasworks Park in Seattle at dawn; it’s been a tradition for us for nearly 30 years, although we have missed a few times over the years.
Our custom is to meet at the park, remain until the sun is fully “rose up”, and then a group of us congregate at a nearby restaurant for breakfast; sometimes we’ll see a movie afterwards, and some years, we dance the dance of the Big Cats of the Serengeti and lounge in the sun.

A “minor” update, 22 May 2019: due to jet lag and illness, I was not able to attend the morning festivities, although the remainder of the family did. Perhaps next year!
