The Worlds that Bind Us
Earth-world, Underworld, Spirit-world.
These are the Worlds that bind us.
Flesh to the Earth.
Soul to the Underworld.
Spirit to the Spirit-World.
And between the Three,
only the Gods may travel without restriction.
~ (original) Etruscan funerary chapel inscription
~ In some variation, this has survived as a teaching amongst the Old Folk of central and southern Italy.
Noted in Yves Bonefry’s *Roman and European Mythologies*, *The ‘Orphic’ Gold Tablets and Greek Religion* by Radcliffe G. Edmonds (on academic levels) AND the dedication page as a quote in Morgan Lleweyn’s historical fantasy, The Etruscans.
Examples of modern survivals on folk level: *Etruscan Roman Remains* by Charles G Leland (recorded as a saying probably stemming to Rome or Erturia passed to him) and *No Pictures in My Grave: A Spiritual Journey in Sicily* by Susan Caperna Lloyd.
